FiNDiNG AGENCY: Boycott the Last Airbender Film?
“We want to support The Last Airbender film, but we cannot in good conscience support a production that systematically excludes people of color from heroic roles.”
‘The Last Airbender’ (2010) is a live-action Paramount film directed by M. Night Shyamalan. It is based on a popular cartoon called…or you can just NOT spam the last airbender tag with your rubbish.

ha. it’s really interesting how some people buy into media hype and certain pop culture but when you want to be critical of it they can’t deal. In this case ktcronier decided to call my post “rubish” because its being critical of the film because of the lack of representation of people of color (i.e. asian or inuit cultures). This is something folks that suscribe to the “color blind” ideology don’t understand and will never understand.
Because either 1. they are not a person of color or 2. they have bought into the way things are and have not been taught to be critical.So you can call my post whatever you want but I will still tag it. I cannot morally and consiously support anything that perpetuates white privilege and the erasure of communities of color from film or any other media.
Hollywood continually reappropriates culture and continues to ignore communities of color it is not that asian people can’t act or that other groups can’t theatrically perform. Our communities have a lot of artistic, spiritual, and forms of artistic expression that is purposefully and continually reappropriated.
Therefore, to call this post or the boycott that people have created “rubbish” is ignorant and disrespectful of an entire peoples, community and movement.
And in regards to the “newsflash” who says I am trying to reach out to the whole world. I am just blogging information that is interesting to me and if others happen to agree and want to reblog then so be it.
But of course, haters gun’ hate!
